Inspiration Behind This Painting
Few days after His resurrection, Jesus waited at the seashore, fish frying on the fire, for His weary and hungry disciples. The disciples had been in the water all night and caught nothing. Jesus called out to them and asked them to let their net on the other side and they ended up having a miraculous catch of fish. The men hauled in their catch and had breakfast with their master. Jesus knew their friends were famished and He made them breakfast. Reading the four gospels in the Bible, it cannot escape the reader’s eye that Jesus always met people at their point of need. He fed the hungry, healed the sick, cast out demons, raised the dead, all so He can take them to their next level of understanding the gospel – a deep and intimate relationship with God through His ultimate sacrifice. Jesus will meet us at the point of our needs too, not to make us comfortable in this passing world but to restore our friendship with God. May the blessing we get not end in a transactional relationship with God but instead move us closer to have intimate friendship with Him.
When they got there, they found breakfast waiting for them—fish cooking over a charcoal fire, and some bread. John 21:9
