This painting began with the vision of an eye followed by seeing several eyes in the upcoming days. It got to a point that I couldn’t ignore seeing eyes everywhere. I decided to paint these eyes to represent the vision.
There are many passages about eyes in the Bible but the scripture that kept rising to the top was 2 Chronicles 16:9. God is looking throughout the whole earth for men and women who have a blameless heart and who rely on Him completely. With all the distractions around us and our desire to have control, it is easy to compromise a little here and a little there. But God is on the lookout for those who are blameless. When He finds one, He will strongly support them. To be blameless is to rely on Him in our weakness. To be blameless is to fully surrender and to give all control back to Him. It isn’t easy but when that happens, God takes over. He leads the way where there is no way.
For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him. 2 Chronicles 16:9
Also, our eyes have the potential to lead us into various paths – some good and some bad. Our decisions are often based on what we can see. In a world full of distraction, it’s easy to lose focus and pursue whatever we set our eyes on. We get caught up in our- daily routines, worries, and desires, and we forget about the one who should be at the center of our lives and the center of our focus – Jesus.
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.” Hebrews 12:2
