The Lion, Lamb and the Cross – Watercolor and Ink
I worked on this, from my backyard, while my children played outside. I had created the outline several days back and I had given up hope on it because the outline looked terrible. In my eyes, the outline had zero potential. But as I sat down to paint random things, I sensed the all too familiar nudge from the Holy Spirit to work on this. “You and I”, He said, reminding me of a promise He had given sometime back and so I began working on it, with Him. There was nothing to lose, just being in His presence and slapping color wherever I felt like, and this happened. It was the most freeing watercolor experience I’ve ever had, just the freedom and joy I experienced seeing an unusable sketch come to life – much like how God works on us. Our hardened hearts seem unusable sometimes but He patiently works on it till beauty comes out of us.
This painting, The Lion, Lamb and the Cross was created as symbol of my gratitude for the God who is all powerful and roars like a lion, yet in humility lay Himself down as the sacrificial lamb (பலியாடு) on the cross.
