Inspiration Behind This Painting
One of my favorite Christmas songs from childhood is “We three kings”. No Christmas went by without a nativity play. Be it Sunday school or regular school, or acting it out with my cousins, nativity play was an integral part of Christmas. And my favorite part of the play was the three wise men journeying as they follow a moving star to the stable. The song “we three kings” was always sung in the background. The wise men were to keep their gaze fixed on the moving star, the bright light that marked their path for their journey. They were to carry their gifts – gold, frankincense and myrrh, to the baby King Jesus.
In the Bible, these wise men were from the East and they diligently looked for the sign on the sky and followed it till they reach their destiny. They brought their precious gifts, gifts fit for the Savior of the world, gold to signify His kingship, frankincense to signify his priesthood and myrrh to signify his death. May we, just like the wise men, seek and follow the Great Light that leads us to life. And as we follow Him, may we bring our gifts to the King
