Several years ago, one of my friends said “I’m not a sheep and I don’t need a shepherd”. Personally, I need a Shepherd more than a sheep needs him. Without His guiding voice, I wouldn’t know what to do with my life. Jesus said “I’m the Good Shepherd and my sheep know my voice”. He further went on to say “I lay my life down for my sheep”. In another instance, he talks about how He is like the Shepherd who leaves his 99 sheep to look for that 1 lost sheep. As you see this painting, reflect on the tenderness of the good Shepherd, His love, His passion, His faithfulness. When I follow my Shepherd, I find rest and comfort. When I pass through the valley of shadow of death, His voice sustains me. I don’t know about you but with all that life can throw at me, I can find no better place of rest and safety.
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
He refreshes my soul. Psalms 23:1-3
